Infirmary Bridge and War Memorial
The Infirmary bridge crosses the Ness between the Royal Northern Infirmary (now UHI) and Cavell gardens. This suspension footbridge was erected at a cost of £2000 (about £1,000,000 in modern money) and opened in 1879.
It was made by W.Smith and Son at Ness Iron works on Rose street, later to be the Rose Street Foundry. Later still they became A.I. Welders, no longer on Rose street but now at Dalcross.
Cavell gardens, directly opposite the Infirmary is the site of the Inverness parish War Memorial.
